Your Viewpoint

You are IN FAVOR of the monument.

Your Great, Great, Great Grandfather fought in the Civil War and you have participated in a Civil War Re-enactor unit for several years. You want to let the citizens of the town know what it was like to be a soldier in this war. You believe that many citizens do not understand the experience of being directly involved in a war. You hope the monument will honor the soldiers who fought and sometimes died in this bloody war. In your mind the monument should be a tribute to soldiers who gave their lives in the conflict.

The mayor's questions

If yes, what should it look like?

Why is it important to remember historical events like the Civil War?
